Computational Thinking: Break It Down – Recorded Workshop

February 23, 2022

Did you miss the virtual workshop, Computational Thinking:  Break It Down? Don’t worry, you can watch the recording. This workshop is an opportunity to build confidence and competence in teaching computational thinking.

You will learn how breaking a problem into smaller, manageable parts – decomposing a problem – is key to computational thinking.  You will learn how to use active learning strategies to help youth develop as computational thinkers. You will get to experience hands-on activities from Code.org and Creative Computing curriculum that are available to you at no cost.

The workshop is hands-on, so before you view it, you need to print the Graphic Organizer and Debug it Reflection.  You will also want an electronic copy of Debug it Handout.  The training activities come from the Break It Down staff development guide from Click2ComputerScience.  The unplugged activity, Computational Thinking with Monsters, is from Code.org  and the Debug It activity is from Creative Computing developed the Creative Computing Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
